Dan Metcalfe is wrapping up the soccer choreography/creating and coaching for the new Will Ferrell/Robert Duvall movie - Kicking and Screaming, coming to all major theaters in May, 2005. Dan worked with over 150 kids, including two excellent players from Italy, Allessandro Ruggiero and Francesco Liotti, to create what will be the best youth soccer movie to ever hit the big screen. Dan spent 3 weeks at training camp working specifically with the different teams, teaching how to do all the moves and plays designed to sell the story. Once the camp was over, the kids had to maintain the touches and expertise over the 10 week grueling shooting schedule. The techniques used in his Super Soccer Skills training series worked perfectly in the teaching of young players. Under intense pressure, the actors and the special soccer players were able to repeat the skills and choreography again and again to Directors delight. You can see the highlights of all the training, both successes and problems, when the DVD is released for Kicking and Screaming in the Special Features section. The lead actors, including Josh Hutcherson (the new Big Actor in Hollywood), had hardly played soccer before, but ate up the training sessions and played on camera as if they were born with a ball at their feet. Dan Metcalfe played for Hollywood United in the recent Charity Game at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Under the guidance of Ethan Zohn, Survivor Africa winner, and his wonderful Charity, Grassroots Soccer, Dan's team defeated the rival celebrity team. From MLS stars Alexis Lylas and John Harkes to Jason Statham, Ian Astbury or English EPL stars Vinny Jones and Ian Feuer, a competitive and fun time was had by all. Ethan played great in goal and surprised the delighted fans with his finger tip saves. Eric Wynalda scored the only goal in his teams 2-1 loss, with Ian Feuer getting his fingertips to the ball, but it going in off the post from a penalty kick The game was highlighted on FOX Sports World.
